Rustic carpentry now offer 4 different green woodworking crafting experiences
These courses are an opportunity to slow down & take a step back into the rural life of the village carpenter from yester year.
During these hands on experiences you will learn many traditional green wood working skills & the use of some beautiful woodland carpentry tools which will help you create a piece of bespoke rustic furniture. It’s a very enjoyable, inspirational & highly rewarding way to spend some time in my workshop in a barn, on a farm, in north west leicestershire.
My own gift cards are available on request, very happy to post these out if they are required to give a loved one. I offer no set days for any course so as to offer as much flexibility as possible we simply look at our diaries and find a suitable day that works for us both, booking can be made by email or calling.
Green Woodworking Craft No. 1
Make your own twisty hazel walking staff
This primarily aimed at children and is perfect for kids parties, but is also open to adults too this is an introduction to the simple, joyful & relaxing experience of green woodworking, crafting your hazel staff.
It’s an easy 1hr session of peeling and putting patterns in the bark, little hand sanding, we can add wrist cord, using some simple but genuine green woodworking tools, it’s a hands on doing and creating… guaranteed smiles all around.
Age 5+ Cost is £15 per person, we can cater upto 8 kids per session

Oak stool making experience
During this very hands on 6hr day you will learn many traditional carpentry skills & techniques using a selection of beautiful old hand tools, you will walk away with hand crafted quality oak stool & mallet.
Cost is £160 per person (safe covid restrictions allow for this experience to be for 2 people only per course)
Green Woodworking Craft No. 3
Rustic oak garden celebration bench
This experience is for 2 people and is a full 8hr day. The day is about being creative, inspired and getting stuck in together, a shared moment perfect for couples wanting to create a beautiful bespoke piece of garden furniture. You will need lots of willingness, enthusiasm and together 3 of us will craft something very special that will last many many years and bring you lots of joy and happy memories. Wood shavings will fall to the floor as we work the grain…
Cost is £350 (for 2 people making 1 bench)
Green Woodworking Craft No. 4
Build a shave horse
This unique course (6-8hrs) is to make your own green woodworking shave horse made from oak & ash. This is a devise that clamps down a piece of wood with your feet, whilst allowing you to shape with wood with a tool (draw knife) in your hands.
This devise is absolutely critical & invaluable in helping to make a piece of green wood furniture

Green Woodworking Craft No. 5
Build an outdoor ‘A’ frame structure
This is a 3 day course to make a very high quality ‘ash hard wood’ round pole ‘A’ frame structure. Ideal for use as a temporary covered area perfect for any outdoor setting, children’s nursery & forest school learning areas. It’s very sturdy, solid and easy to erect. The course is a very hands on experience involving lots of green wood skills & tool use. The price is inclusive of all timber, a 10-12ft aluminium scaffold pole (which is used for a ridge), hardy hemp rope & anchor stakes.
What is NOT included in the price is the canvas canopy, this can be ordered through rustic carpentry prior to booking onto the course, we can discuss these details at the time of booking.
